Unit 2 Legally Blonde Rehearsal 10/09

 Second Legally Blonde Rehearsal 10/09

In this rehearsal, i started off with blocking the first scene with Paulette in the Hair Affair. We decided to make Paulette focus on another character at the start of the scene so Elle had time to really show her conflict with making herself brunette, hiding her true self. We started off with Paulette bringing Elle over to the chair when Paulette decided "something else was going on" but then changed to her dragging the chair over to Elle to show that she really commands the scene and is the owner of the salon. We changed Paulette's line of "three tits?" to boobs to make sure the scene was more 12A suitable and when she repeats it we wanted Paulette to stop what she was doing because audiences tend to understand the humour if the character isn't busying themselves around the set.

Going into the song we wanted Paulette to be on the same level as Elle seeing her confide in her as if they had become friends already. The line "Celtic moods" we decided to comically make quite overly loud to make the audience find it quite comical. Similarly, when Elle questions Paulette with "Ireland?" she replies with a very confident "Ireland" even though you can tell Elle is finding the whole ordeal quite funny. We also decided to include Elle as Paulette's imagining of her wedding to increase the comedy factor of the song. This was a really helpful part of rehearsal because it helped me build the relationship between Elle and Paulette and it increased my confidence on my use of energy on stage because i had my teacher in the rehearsal helping me to know when to draw back the energy and then bring it in.
