in this singing session, we started by learning the basics of starting to learn how to see.
For example, primal sound, posture/alignment and breath/support.
Primal sound is the sound we are born making, for example, crying , screaming and groaning. This is good for singing because it helps us by using everyday vocal sounds to create vocal techniques.
Posture/alignment is very good for singing because it helps expand and contract the important singing parts, helping create more strong and powerful sound.
Breath/support is really important in singing because adjusting the amount of airflow the flowing air gives control over the dynamics.
In this session, we all began by doing a warmup, SOVTS, breathe control exercises and a specific exercise where we all got on the floor with our legs up on chairs to help with our diaphragm and contracting and relaxing that.
We then moved on to all doing our singing baselines,
I decided to sing suddenly seymour because it was a song that pushed both the higher and lower end of my range whilst also using different techniques that could show off skills that i have and could have with more practise.
This is the video of me singing suddenly seymour-
Overall, I think that this went well for a first baseline because whilst I still managed to hit the notes that i wanted to,I still have a lot of things that can be worked on. For example, when i am higher up in my range i feel like there sounds and feels like there's a lot of strain present. Also, near the end you can hear that i messed up on the lyrics and sang the male part instead of the female, but i was able to correct that straight away and kept singing.
